Twenty (20) children and women were rescued jointly by
Maiti Nepal and Rescue Foundation, Mumbai on 08 May 2006 from brothels situated in Pune and Mumbai, India.
They are now back in Nepal at Maiti Nepal. We have been able to trace and locate parents of 2 of the
children.
Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Himani Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah inaugurated Maiti Nepal's Sonja Kill Memorial Hospice constructed at Gokarneshwor Village Development Committee, Pakhathok of Kathmandu at a function organised on 19 January 2006.
With instigation of Maiti Nepal a monitoring committee
was formed to keep vigilance on cases of abuse and exploitation escalating in Cabin and Dance restaurant
throughout Kathmandu Valley.
Maiti Nepal celebrated its annual day on 6th April 2005
