Maiti Nepal began its program from building a safe shelter at
Gaushala, Kathmandu for the poor and destitute women living in the Pashupatinath area. Begging was
their only means for survival and our Director, Anuradha Koirala used to provide loans even from her
own pockets to help start small shops. Maiti rehabilitation centre poses more as a caring home involved
in activities like medical check-ups, arrange psychological counselling and identify parents of
