At Maiti Nepal, we take immense pride in our Child Protection Home, where we care for children from underprivileged and marginalized communities, including those affected by Commercial Sexual Exploitation (CSEC) and other forms of violence. Our goal is to ensure these children grow up in a safe, nurturing environment with every opportunity to lead happy, healthy, and successful lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 1993, we have been running a Child Protection Home with the capacity to house 250 children. Here, we go beyond meeting their basic needs by providing comprehensive support that focuses on their survival, protection, development, and participation. We are committed to helping them heal from their past, equipping them with skills and training for a brighter future, and empowering them to thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Child Protection Home is guided by the core principles of the Convention on the Rights<\/strong> of the Child (CRC)<\/strong>, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1989 and developed under the leadership of UNICEF. As per the guiding principles of the CRC \u2013 non-discrimination; the best interests of the child; the right to life, survival and development; and the right to protection, have influenced numerous constitutions, laws, policies and practices globally, it has also formed the foundation of our care for children from marginalized backgrounds, including survivors of exploitation and violence. We ensure every child\u2019s right to heal, grow, and thrive with dignity and hope for a brighter future by providing a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to formal education, including at Teresa Academy, our children receive legal support, medical care, and opportunities to explore life beyond the shelter. We offer daily yoga, music, dance lessons, and taekwando for self-defense, as well as sports, cultural activities, and psychosocial services to nurture their overall well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We encourage our children to pursue higher education after completing their secondary studies, and many have achieved remarkable success. From becoming lab technicians, nurses, and doctors to software engineers, dancers, and more, these achievements reflect the transformative impact of our protection programs and our unwavering commitment to shaping brighter futures for every child in our care.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Major Achievements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

From January to December 2023,<\/strong> Maiti Nepal rescued seven children<\/strong> and provided them with shelter and essential care. Among them, one child<\/strong> was reunited with their family, while six children<\/strong> remain in Maiti Nepal\u2019s Child Protection Home, where they are enrolled in school and receiving formal education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By December 2024, <\/strong>172 children<\/strong> benefited from Maiti Nepal\u2019s Child Protection Home (CPH), receiving shelter, medical care, legal aid, education, food, and clothing. To ensure a brighter future, these children were provided with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • 159 children<\/strong> residing at the Child Protection Centre<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 13 children<\/strong> successfully reintegrated with their families and communities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Among the 159 children<\/strong> at the center:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • 4 infants<\/strong> are cared for in the baby room<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • 140 children<\/strong> are attending school<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • 9 children<\/strong> are enrolled in higher secondary education<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • 5 girls<\/strong> are attending college<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • 1 girl<\/strong> dropped out of school<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Additionally, 55 girls who previously stayed at Maiti Nepal now receive educational support,
