Maiti Nepal organised an inaugural ceremony to launch the Social Information Management System (SIMS) developed by the Ministry of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens (MOWCSC) on August 4, 2022, between the Federal, Provincial, and Local Governments and the key stakeholders of Lumbini Province in collaboration with Winrock International Nepal supported by USAID and UKAID.
We are honored to have Hon. Rama Gharti, Minister of MOWCSC of Lumbini Province, at the event as the Chief Guest. The event was chaired by Mr. Bishwo Ram Khadka, Executive Director of Maiti Nepal and was attended by representatives from different ministries and concerned authorities.
The event was conducted with the objective of bringing together the government at all levels, journalists, and key stakeholders to launch the data management system through a digital platform. MOWCSC has munificently supported its development and realized the urgent need to roll out the digital system across the nation to generate real-time authentic data. By analyzing the social information of survivors and at-risk populations recorded through and in the online digital system, the centralized data management system will assist the Nepal Government (GoN) in developing policies and programs to combat human trafficking.
One-day training on the software “Social Information Management System” was held in Rupandehi District. The training is conducted among staff with regards to the data management system from the concerned department of the 13 respective municipalities of Banke, Bardiya, Kapilvastu, and Rupandehi District.
