The transit home Pashupatinagar was established in 2001 and it is located at Pashupatinagar, VDC; ward no. 4 at district of Illam which lies in the Eastern Development Region. It is a part of Mechi zone and adjoins the districts of Panchathar to the North, Morang to the South West, and Jhapa to the South.
The district borders with the Indian state, West Bengal in the North. This area is particularly high-risk areas in regards to women trafficking due to the open border of Nepal-India. The regular flow of people from both sides has created a conducive environment for trafficking. Accordingly, the Transit Home is working together with border police in intercepting the potential victims of trafficking.
