Day 4 Update: #16DaysOfActivism Against Gender-Based Violence in Terathum
Day 4 of our mass awareness campaign witnessed a powerful series of events, uniting students, government officials, police personnel, and community groups in the fight against gender-based violence. The day started as students from Basanta Sadan English Boarding School and others joined forces for an impactful awareness rally, supported by government officials and women’s organizations.
Ward Chairperson Mr. Rudra Limbu, teacher Shree Nagendra Kafle, and Police Rep Khagendra Aiktan shared insights on the importance of awareness across age groups, gender equality, and the societal issues surrounding gender-based violence. Maiti Team stole the show with expressive performances on gender-based violence and human trafficking, using song, dance, and street drama to captivate and educate.
Ward Chairperson Mr. Gopal Subedi and Deputy Mayor Ms. Jamuna Karki stressed the need for continuous awareness programs within households. Mayor Mr. Sanjay Kumar Tumbahampe and Deputy Mayor Ms. Jumana Karki Subedi emphasized the collective responsibility to eradicate gender-based violence. Executive Director Bishwo Ram Khadka expressed gratitude and highlighted the ongoing need for year-round awareness. The day concluded with an impactful street performance at Tudikhel, Myanglung.
Day 4 marked another step forward in uniting the community against gender-based violence and human trafficking. The diverse perspectives and performances strengthen our resolve. We eagerly anticipate the upcoming days of continued engagement.
