Day 3 Mass Awareness Campaign Update: #16DaysOfActivism against Gender-Based Violence!

On the third day of the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” awareness campaign in Dhankuta and Terathum, the program continued to unfold with impactful events, involving key speakers, performances by the Maiti Team, and community engagement.
Ms. Sumana Timalsena, Treasurer of the Women Rehabilitation Center in Dhankuta, highlighted the impact of gender-based violence. At the same time, Mr. Min Prasad Subedi, Chairperson of the NGO Federation, stressed the need for ongoing awareness efforts. The Maiti Team wowed the crowd with powerful performances. Ms. Hema Chemjong, Deputy Chairperson of Koshi Pradesh, and Mr. Rosesh Shrestha, Ward 7 Chairperson of Dhankuta, commended the campaign’s impact in Dhankuta. Deputy Mayor Ms. Bhima Devi Khanal shared insights on women’s challenges, emphasizing awareness for empowerment. Mr. Bishwo Khadka, Executive Director of Maiti Nepal, closed the event, urging year-round awareness and empowerment for all women and girls.
Post-event, the street performance at Hile engaged students, spreading awareness. Distribution of IEC materials at Sidhwa Bazar & Chitre reached more than 250 households, extending the campaign impact. Day 3 showcased the relentless commitment of stakeholders & locals in combating gender-based violence & human trafficking.
