On the occasion of the 115th International Women’s Day, today, Maiti Nepal organized an awareness program in Gamcha, Budhanilkantha Municipality-13, under the slogan: “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”
The day began with an energetic rally through the neighborhood, spreading awareness through pamphlet distribution and a door-to-door campaign. Our journey continued at Jana Uddhar Secondary School, where we engaged with young minds about gender equality and protection from human trafficking.
School Principal Mr. Hariram Chhetri emphasized the importance of educating girls, saying, “A child under the care of a man may be uneducated, but a child under the care of a woman is always educated.”
Maiti Nepal’s Founder/Chairperson Ms. Anuradha Koirala shed light on the rising cases of internal human trafficking, where young girls are most vulnerable. With an interactive audience, she urged the community to stay informed, protect children from exploitation, and recognize that the fight against human trafficking starts within our own homes.
We thank Budhanilkantha Municipality-13, Community Police Budhanilkantha, Jana Uddhar Secondary School, and our dedicated Maiti Nepal team for making this program impactful!
