MAITI NEPAL

Empowering Our Team to Protect and Advocate for Children’s Rights

Maiti Nepal recently organized a two-day Capacity Building Training on Child Safeguarding, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC) on February 27-28, 2025. The training aimed to enhance and update the knowledge of our staff, equipping them with the necessary tools to better protect vulnerable children and communities.

The first day of the training, facilitated by Mr. Krishna Man Shakya, focused on SRHR and child safeguarding. Discussions revolved around understanding SRHR as a fundamental human right, the prevention and treatment of STIs, and both national and international legal frameworks that safeguard these rights. Additionally, the session covered key aspects of child safeguarding and protection, addressing critical issues that impact children’s well-being.

On the second day, Ms. Tulasa Khadka and Ms. Urishna Shakya led an insightful session on OSEC. The discussion highlighted various forms of online exploitation and abuse, including cyberbullying, child grooming, tech-facilitated child marriage, and child trafficking. Through interactive group activities, participants explored the roles of families, educational institutions, civil society organizations (CSOs), and government bodies in tackling these pressing issues.

The training provided a valuable opportunity for our staff to deepen their understanding and strengthen their commitment to ensuring the safety and rights of children. Maiti Nepal remains dedicated to building a world free from exploitation and harm, where every child can grow up in a safe and supportive environment.
