Maiti Nepal had the privilege of welcoming the Right Honorable Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. KP Sharma Oli, to our central office in Gaushala, today on 13th January 2025. His visit highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in combating human trafficking and supporting survivors.
During the visit, the Prime Minister toured the Women’s Rehabilitation Center (WRC) and Child Protection Home (CPH) to understand the vital care provided to survivors. He also visited the Workshop, where survivors showcased their craftsmanship in tailoring and handicrafts, reflecting their resilience and determination. At Teresa Academy, the children impressed the Prime Minister with a vibrant orchestra and music performance, followed by a beautiful welcome dance by our talented girls.
The Prime Minister held discussions with Maiti Nepal’s Founder, Ms. Anuradha Koirala, along with the survivors, hearing their stories and learning more about the organization’s longstanding work against human trafficking. During the visit, he announced a contribution of 1 crore to Maiti Nepal’s treasury, recognizing the organization’s vital role in assisting the government’s efforts.
Prime Minister Oli expressed his appreciation for Maiti Nepal’s dedication to protecting and empowering vulnerable individuals. He assured that the government would take serious initiatives to address the issues observed during his visit and pledged continued support for such impactful efforts.
This visit serves as a significant milestone for Maiti Nepal, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting our mission. In this way, we shall continue to bring hope, empowerment, and positive change to the lives of survivors.
