Lighting the Path: Raising Awareness on HIV/AIDS and Combating Vulnerabilities

On the eve of World AIDS Day, Maiti Nepal honored the resilience of lives lost to HIV/AIDS with a poignant candlelight ceremony. On November 30, the Maiti Nepal family, including district offices, came together at the Metropolitan Police Circle in Gaushala to light candles and offer prayers for the departed souls of AIDS victims. This year’s theme, “Take the Rights Path,” reaffirms Maiti Nepal’s commitment to raising AIDS awareness and empowering survivors to live with dignity and hope.

The program, led by Maiti Nepal’s Founder and Chairperson, Ms. Anuradha Koirala, was a heartfelt reminder of our shared responsibility in the fight against HIV/AIDS. She emphasized the importance of raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, highlighting that with proper care and support, individuals living with the condition can lead fulfilling lives. She also shed light on the pressing need to address internal trafficking, which continues to put young girls at heightened risk of contracting the disease.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us in commemorating World AIDS Day 2023. In solidarity, we keep the light of hope alive.
