Maiti Nepal has safely rescued and repatriated two Nepali adolescent girls who were found in vulnerable situations while working with illegal dance troupes (locally called “orchestras”) in India.
The girls had been placed under protection in a girls’ home in Bihar, India. Through coordinated efforts led by Maiti Nepal, in collaboration with relevant authorities and partners, the necessary legal processes were completed, and the girls were safely brought back to Nepal.
Following their return, Maiti Nepal is providing immediate care and protection, including safe shelter, psychosocial counseling, and support for family reintegration. The focus of the support is to ensure their safety, emotional recovery, and long-term well-being.
The girls are also being informed about safe migration, the risks of human trafficking, and safer livelihood opportunities, helping them build awareness and resilience for the future. Efforts are being made to ensure a smooth and supportive reintegration with their families and communities.
Maiti Nepal remains committed to the protection of children and young people at risk, and continues to work across borders to prevent exploitation, support survivors, and promote safer pathways for migration and employment.
