A Successful Rescue of an Indian Girl by Maiti Nepal Kanchanpur
Maiti Nepal Kanchanpur conducted a successful operation to rescue a 15-year-old Indian girl from Majir Kaanda village, Pithoragarh District of Uttarakhand State, India. The rescue took place in Jimuwa in Bhimdatta-10. The girl, Sonali Kumari (name changed), had been missing from her home for a week. Despite extensive efforts by her family to locate her in nearby areas and with the help of relatives, they were unable to find her. Subsequently, a complaint was filed with the local police and organizations.
Concerns arose due to the significant presence of Nepali workers in the nearby Indian city of Pithoragarh, leading to suspicions that Sonali might have been taken to Nepal. In response to a request for assistance from the Indian Police and organizations, Maiti Nepal Kanchanpur collaborated with them. Through their network, they gathered information and coordinated with the District Police Office to successfully rescue the girl from the residence of a person with the surname Tamata in Jimuwa of Bhimdatta-10.
Lakshman Tamata, employed at a hotel in Pithoragarh, had concealed Sonali in his elder brother’s house in Jimuwa. Following the rescue operation, Maiti Nepal Kanchanpur handed over the girl to the Indian organization RIDS, which focuses on protecting against human trafficking and exploitation for family reintegration.
