Maiti Nepal has organized a two-day inter-municipal coordination meeting, starting today on 15th December, with dignitaries from 15 municipalities in Kavre, Sindhuli, and Ramechhap Districts. Led by Ms. Anuradha Koirala, the founder of Maiti Nepal as the Chairperson, the event welcomed Hon. Minister Surendra Raj Acharya as the Chief Guest and Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Hon. Felicity Volk as the Special Guest.
#day1 featured a powerful testimony from a survivor of internal trafficking, evoking strong emotions. Hon. Felicity Volk, addressing the meeting, praised the collaborative efforts in the fight against human trafficking, emphasizing the need for global partnership to combat this issue and uplift survivors. Minister Surendra Raj Acharya emphasized combating human trafficking from the local level, and Ms. Anuradha Koirala shared her experiences, stressing the urgency of tackling internal trafficking to protect our daughters and sisters from exploitation.
The Chief Guest, Hon. Surendra Raj Acharya, also marked the occasion by inaugurating the impactful awareness music video “Hidha Maya Hidha” produced by Maiti Nepal. On the second tier of the program, Maiti Nepal Executive Director Mr. Bishwo Ram Khadka gave a presentation on the “Current Trends in Human Trafficking and the Role of Local Governments in Minimizing the Crime.”
This event has shown that we unitedly stand against human trafficking, reaffirming our commitment to ending this scourge and promoting human dignity.
