Introduction
The transit home is situated in Ward No.2 of Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan area in the Kailali district. Located in the North, Kailali shares its border with the Lakhimpur district of Uttar Pradesh, India. It was founded in the year 2001 AD.

Major Achievements of 2024
MN Transit Home Dhangadi Intercepted 165 girls and women at risk of trafficking from the border. 36 were returned directly from the border and 129 were rescued from various risky spots.
- Successfully celebrated 13th International Women’s Day, Maiti Nepal’s 31st annual day celebration, 17th National anti-human trafficking day along with the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
- Shelter support was provided to 129 girls/women. 39 of them were below the age of 18 and 90 of them were above the age of 18.
- 12 Domestic Violence Case Filed were filed in the transit home out of which 4 were mediated and 8 were referred.
- 170 missing cases were reported to the Transit Home. Of these, 35 women were found and reintegrated into family and relatives.
- 11,093 vehicles were checked at the Nepal-India Border to trace if the children/women who were migrating were at risk of trafficking.
- Maiti Nepal Staff provided information on safe migration and anti-trafficking issues to 5,884 people.
- 56 women and girls received psychosocial counseling in the year 2023.
- Organised an orientation meeting with 29 concerned stakeholders to improve coordination between border staff and police officers.
- Completed 4 shelter management meetings with 7 participants.
- One trafficking case was reported migrating were at risk of trafficking.
- Completed MPAC meeting on 29 December 2023, with 22 Project Advisory Committee members of Municipality and discussed the overall activities conducted by Maiti Nepal.
