Introduction

The Maiti Nepal Information Desk is situated in Ward No. 9 of Dhulikhel Municipality, Kavrepalanchok District, and was established on May 15, 2015 AD. Its primary purpose is to inspect vehicles heading towards Sindhuli and Bardiwas, offering guidance to women and girls traveling unsafely to India to prevent human trafficking. Maiti Nepal Kavre has actively conducted awareness programs addressing the underlying causes of gender-based violence (GBV) and human trafficking. Additionally, they provide comprehensive shelter services and work towards reintegrating victims with their families and relatives.

Major Achievements of 2024

MN Transit Home Kavre intercepted 1217 girls and women at risk of trafficking from the border. Among them, 622 were directly returned from the border.

  • Successfully celebrated 13th International Women’s Day, Maiti Nepal’s 31st annual day celebration, 17th National anti-human trafficking day along with the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
  • Shelter support was provided to 129 girls/women. 39 of them were below the age of 18 and 90 of them were above the age of 18.
  • 54 Domestic Violence Case Filed in the transit home of which 34 were mediated and solved and 20 of them were referred.
  • 28 missing cases were reported to the Transit Home. Of these, 13 women were found and reintegrated into family and relatives.
  • 50,460 vehicles were inspected in the year 2023.
  • 3158 people were provided with information against human trafficking and gender-based violence.
  • 31 women/ girls were directly reintegrated with their families.
  • 13 rape cases were filed.
  • 11 human trafficking cases were reported.
  • Overall, 449 students were oriented on human trafficking in three different schools.
  • Completed MPAC meeting on 27th December 2023 with 19 project advisory committee members of the Municipality and discussed the overall activities conducted by Maiti Nepal.
  • 622 women and girls received psychosocial counseling in the year 2023.
