Introduction

The Biratnagar transit home was set up in 1998 and is situated in Sainik Tole Metropolitan City. Morang district, where it’s located, is in the Terai region of Koshi Province. It’s close to Panchathar and Dhankuta in the North, Sunsari in the West, and Illam and Jhapa in the East. To the South, Biratnagar shares a border with the Indian state of Bihar. This area is considered risky because India and Nepal have an open border with various smaller routes leading into India. By establishing the Transit Home in Biratnagar, Maiti Nepal aims to prevent the illegal trafficking of Nepalese girls for commercial sexual exploitation, safeguarding them from harm and potential hazards.
