Introduction
Established in September 2022, the Maiti Nepal Transit Home in Tikapur, Kailali District, is located in Tikapur Municipality-9, Jhunga. Border surveillance checkpoint, is situated at the Khagraula border on the Southern side adjoining India. This region poses a heightened risk due to the open border shared by India and Nepal, with various smaller routes leading into India.
The Tikapur Transit Home of Maiti Nepal offers short-term services encompassing rescue, repatriation, legal support, psychosocial support, and reintegration. Additionally, the transit home conducts awareness-raising activities and activism against gender-based violence.

Major Achievements of 2024
- MN Transit Home Tikapur Intercepted 78 girls/women from different risky situations preventing them from being trafficked out of which 43 were directly returned home.
- 4,456 vehicles were inspected at the Nepal-India Border to trace if the children/women who were migrating were at risk of trafficking.
- 38 women/ girls were reintegrated with their families.
- Shelter support was provided to 37 girls/women, out of which 10 females were below the age of 18 and 27 females were above the age of 18.
- 3 Domestic violence cases were filed in the transit home out of which 1 case was mediated and 2 were referred.
- 18 missing cases were reported to the Transit Home and among them, 11 were found.
- 2,404 people received the information on anti-trafficking, domestic and sexual violence, and safe migration.
- 88 women and girls received psychosocial counseling in the year 2023.
