Introduction
The establishment of Maiti Nepal Transit home in Gulariya on July 16, 2016, aimed to address issues such as violence against women, human trafficking, and sexual violence. The facility, situated in Srijan Tol, ward no. 6 of Gulariya Municipality in Bardiya District, offers essential services including rescue, counseling, health treatment, legal assistance, rehabilitation, and more. With a maximum capacity of 10 individuals, the transit home provides support for both survivors and those affected by these challenges.

Nepal, is located in the plains of the Terai region near the southern border with the Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh state of India. It is 35 kilometers west of Nepalgunj and about 10 km north of Murtiha Transit or railway station, India.

Major Achievements of 2024
MN Transit Home Bardiya Intercepted 357 girls/women out of which 52 of them were directly returned from the border and 305 of them were rescued from various risky spots.
- 28 cases of rape were reported.
- One case of Human Trafficking was registered.
- Shelter support was provided to 305 girls/women. 215 of them were below the age of 18 and 90 of them were above the age of 18.
- 82 cases of domestic violence were reported to the Transit Home. Out of which 77 cases were solved in favor of applicants and 5 were referred.
- 47 missing cases were reported to the Transit Home out of which, 8 were found and reintegrated into their families.
- 1,237 vehicles were inspected at Nepal-India Border.
- Maiti Nepal Staff provided information on safe migration and anti-trafficking issues to 9,650 people.
- 442 women and girls received psychosocial counseling in the year 2022.
