Introduction

The Bhairahwa transit home was set up in 1997 and is situated at Suryaudayamarg, Siddharth Nagar Municipality, Rupandehi District in Province No. 5 of Nepal. It shares its borders with Nawalparasi district to the East, Kapilbastu district, and Uttar Pradesh (India) to the West, Palpa district to the North, and Uttar Pradesh (India) to South.

Major Achievements of 2024

MN Transit Home Rupandehi Intercepted 168 girls/women out of which 167 of them were directly returned from the border and one was rescued from being trafficked internally.

  • One case of Human Trafficking was registered.
  • 4,026 vehicles were inspected at Nepal-India Border.
  • 39 missing cases were reported to the Transit Home out of which, 19 were found and reintegrated into their missing.
  • 16 cases of domestic violence were reported to the Transit Home. Out of which 12 cases were solved in favor of applicants and 4 were referred.
  • Shelter support was provided to 138 girls/women. 26 of them were below the age of 18 and 112 of them were above the age of 18.
  • Maiti Nepal Staff provided information on safe migration and anti-trafficking issues to 8,545 people.
  • 183 women and girls received psychosocial counseling in the year 2023.
